The craving will pass
in about 90–180 seconds.
Most people give in before they find out. CraveMastery gives you something to do with your hands and your attention while the wave moves through you — so you can choose freely on the other side.
Built by a clinical hypnotherapist with 40 years of practice — grounded in extinction science, not willpower.
Come here to understand the method, or go straight to the app if you already know you want it.
Cravings aren't a character flaw.
They're a wave.
180sec
Research shows that most cravings peak and then soften — typically within 90 to 180 seconds.
Not hours. Not all day. 180 seconds.
The problem isn't that you're weak. The problem is that nobody gave you something to do with those 180 seconds except white-knuckle your way through them.
That's what CraveMastery is for.
You keep giving in —
even when you don't want to.
This isn't a discipline problem. It's a gap between two states of mind.
The Urge State
When a craving hits, your brain shifts into a different mode. Attention narrows. Time compresses. Relief feels urgent — right now. Your values are still there. Your goals haven't changed. But in this moment, they're simply out of reach.
The Reflective State
Then you give in — and something shifts. The urgency lifts. You think clearly again. You remember why this matters. You feel the regret. This is where promises live, where decisions are made. It's where you are right now, reading this.
The gap between these two states is why willpower keeps failing you. You're making promises in one state and trying to keep them in another. You're not broken. You're just missing a bridge.
Not every craving feels the same.
Sometimes the urge feels emotional. Sometimes it feels automatic. Sometimes it feels like a reward you deserve. The method is built around the moment itself, so it can work across different craving styles.
Stress cravings
The urge shows up when you are overloaded, tired, or emotionally frayed.
Reward cravings
The mind reaches for sugar as comfort, celebration, or relief after effort.
Automatic cravings
The body moves toward the habit before you have fully noticed what is happening.
Persistent cravings
The urge may return in waves. The goal is not perfection, but changing what happens each time.
What CraveMastery
actually does
Four steps. 180 seconds. And something shifts.
You reach for your phone. Instead of opening your usual escape, you open CraveMastery.
The app shows you an image of the thing you're craving. You don't avoid it. You face it.
Two methods. Same logic. Both give your hands and your attention something to do while the wave moves through you.
Slowly scratch away the trigger image with your finger. Beneath it is a photo you chose — your reason, your why. By the time it's fully revealed, the peak has passed.
Bubbles float up over the trigger image, each one mirroring how strong the urge feels. As you pop them, the trigger fades and the photo beneath it — your reason, your why — comes into view. Every pop also records your intensity, so over days and weeks you can watch your cravings get shorter, weaker, further apart. Not because we tell you it's working. Because you see it yourself.
The urgency has softened. Your attention has widened. Not because you forced yourself — but because both parts of you are finally in the same room. And if you used the Bubble ritual, you have a data point. The craving was real. Now you can watch it shrink.
This is not about fighting cravings. It's about staying with them long enough to choose.
Because the problem
is different.
Most apps try to keep you motivated. But motivation lives in your Reflective State — it disappears the moment a craving takes over. CraveMastery doesn't try to keep you motivated. It meets you inside the craving itself.
Slip-ups don't break anything. There's no count to reset, no failure notification. Every time you open the app is a win.
Just 180 seconds of presence. The app does the work of holding your attention while the wave moves through you.
Not the moment before. Not the reflection after. CraveMastery works when your Reflective State is offline and only presence will do.
The Bubble ritual captures your intensity rating — 0 to 10 — every session. Over days and weeks, you'll see your own data: cravings getting shorter, weaker, further apart. Not because we tell you it's working. Because you can see it yourself.
This wasn’t built
by a growth team.
I’m Sigurd Stubsjøen. I earned my Cand.psychol — Norway’s six-year professional degree in clinical psychology — from the University of Oslo in 1993, spent over 30 years in clinical practice, and have worked as a clinical hypnotherapist for 40 years. I’ve written five books — one of them on eating and the patterns behind it.
For most of that time, one question kept pulling at me: why people act against their own intentions the moment a craving hits.
It started with a study I read years ago. Heroin users were shown the cues that normally triggered them — but in a setting where nothing followed. Their cravings weakened. Not through willpower. Through learning.
I spent decades testing that idea in my own practice, with every kind of craving, in and out of hypnosis. What I found is that a craving doesn’t soften because you fight it. It softens when your brain meets the trigger and the expected payoff never arrives — a prediction error — and you stay present long enough for the old wiring to loosen. CraveMastery is that mechanism, put in your pocket.
This is also personal. I lost my father and my sister to alcoholism, and I’ve spent my life on the other side of that question — what lets a person stay free in the moment that decides everything.
I’m retired now, and I spend most of my time building health apps and exploring how AI can support psychological health. CraveMastery is where all of it comes together.
